The expected results of the project

  • Regulation of water conditions of the delta of the Nida River and the forest complex of the Pińczów Forest Inspectorate through the construction of 8 hydroengineering structures, decongesting the oxbow lakes on a section of 11.6 km, drainage ditches on a section of 28 km, renaturalization of side oxbow lakes on a section of 4 km and eutrophic reservoirs with an area of 6 ha;
  • Purchase of 110 ha of land to be used for conservation activities for natural habitats and animal species covered by the project;
  • Improvement of the conservation status *91E0 Willow, poplar, alder and ash riparian forests on an area of 98.16 ha;
  • Restoration of meadow habitats to a proper conservation status: 6510 Lowland hay meadows — area of 193 ha, 6410 Molinia meadows on calcareous — area of 28 ha;
  • Restoration of extensive grazing system through the initiation of grazing of 60 cows on five sites with a total area of 232 ha;
  • Ensuring appropriate habitat conditions for 6 bird species on the surface of the area of 232 ha. 285 ha;
  • Construction of 10 nests for the white stork and 1 nest for the white-tailed eagle and strengthening of one existing white-tailed eagle nest;
  • Reintroduction of the pond turtle at 1 site;
  • Restitution of the population of the thick shelled river mussel through restitution of a min. of 20 schools, lesser ramshorn at 4 sites, fire-bellied toad at 3 existing and 3 reconstructed sites, crested newt at 2 sites and Desmoulin’s whorl snail at 20 sites;
  • Preservation of the gene pool of plant species, including restoration of 0.6 ha of 6210 semi-natural dry grasslands and creation of a substitute site for the serratula lycopifolia, carlina acanthifolia, dorycnium germanicum and linum flavum;
  • Reduction of the threat of human pressure in the inland delta area of the Nida River through activities related to the channeling of tourist traffic, increasing the local community’s awareness of the protection of Natura 2000 areas, development of the necessary tourist infrastructure (implementation of 3 educational and nature trails with a total length of 3110 m, 1 observation platform, 1 observation tower, 1 birdwatching look-out point, 10 information-educational boards), as well as the improvement of the economic status of the local community in terms of opportunities of additional earnings.
