12th edition of Biologists’ Night – We were there

The 12th edition of the nationwide Biologists’ Night event took place on Friday 13 January 2023, with the theme: ‘Water – source of life – present and future’.The main organizer of the event was the Institute of Biology of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. Naturalists from the Complex of Świętokrzyskie and Nadnidziańskie Landscape Parks were keen to take part in this year’s campaign. LIFE4DELTA project staff prepared a workshop entitled “Get to know aquatic animals” We introduced the participants of the meeting with interesting facts about the fish found in the Nida River. We discussed the biology and habits of pond turtles and the invasive species that threaten them, such as the red-eared and yellow-bellied sliders. It was possible to see several animal species with one’s own eyes and have a close look at them, which was certainly memorable for our participants. The event attracted a great deal of interest and those taking part in Biologists’ Night were able to see that biology is a passion not only for scientists and is worth to be explored every day.
