07 Jul Turtle island after renaturation
This breathtaking view presented in a short video shows the result of work carried out under the Life4delta project on the former floodplains of the Nida River in Umianowice.
For a few tens of seconds, it transfers the viewer to a land teeming with life. Functioning of the disappearing marsh habitat has been revitalised thanks to advanced hydro-technical works supervised by natural scientists from the Polish Academy of Sciences, scientists from the University of Krakow and hydraulic engineers.
A series of procedures for clearing the sediment canopy of former floodplains, optimizing water management on renovated water structures, and conserving rivers in the Umianovichi delta area have made it possible to supply the presented area with invaluable water. The effect of the enormity of the work done speaks for itself in the voice of nature.
