LIFE Platform Meeting – Santander, Spain.

LIFE Platform Meeting – Santander, Spain.

The “LIFE platform meeting”, which took place on May 22-24, 2024 in Santander (Spain), was devoted to the opportunities and challenges of protecting amphibians and reptiles in Europe.

The plenary sessions and speeches by representatives of individual projects scheduled for the first day allowed for learning about the protection of herpetofauna in various European countries and were a great opportunity to exchange experiences from the implementation of projects.

On the second day of the meeting, working groups analyzed in detail topics related to invasive alien species, climate change, spatial management and EU and national policies regarding planning and financing the protection of amphibians and reptiles.

The last day of the meeting gave us the opportunity to directly experience the beautiful nature and herpetofauna of the Cantabrian area during an all-day field session.

The event was hosted by the “Fundación Camino Lebani Cantabria”, under the patronage of the Steps for LIFE project

The “LIFE4Delta” project, which carries out activities related to the protection of amphibians and reptiles, was discussed at the conference by dr hab. Paweł Adamski, professor IOP PAN, and Małgorzata Łaciak PhD.
