Meeting with representatives of LIFE projects in Greece

We act together for the environment! The Life4delta Project is not just a job, it is also our shared passion! From July 24-28, our team embarked on an inspiring work trip to Greece . The purpose of the trip was to share experiences in the field of nature conservation with Greek institutions and organizations such as the Hellenic Society for Protection of Nature (HSPN), HOMEOTECH Co but also representatives of Sapienza Università di Roma implementing LIFE projects.

During the meetings, we learned about the LIFE Primed project, which focuses on saving priority natural habitats, including riparian forests in the Nestos River delta. We also learned about the principles of the Newlife4drylands project which aims to understand the processes of desertification of protected areas and their revitalization through nature-based solutions (Nature Based Solutions) . There was also the Life ATIAS project fighting invasive alien species – we learned about effective measures to protect against the American mink!

Our great attention was drawn to the Bulgarian-Greek LIFE for Lesser Kestrel project implemented by Зелени Балкани / Green Balkans NGO, which seeks to restore the lesser kestrel population in the border area.

During our visit to the Nestos River Delta – the site of the LIFE Primed project – we discussed how water conservation and proper hydrology can work together with the sustainable management of valuable forest habitats.  All this in the context of climate change and strategies to counter it.

We not only exchanged knowledge – we took steps toward new partnerships and future LIFE projects. This is what inspires us to work for ecosystem diversity!
