28 Mar Spring patrol at the Life4Delta project site
On March 27, a nature patrol was held in the project area, which was attended by representatives of the following institutions:
Complex of Świętokrzyskie and Nadnidziańskie Landscape Parks: Dariusz Wiech and Robert Pisarczyk
Umianowice Volunteer Fire Department: 3 people
St. Hubert Hunting Circle: Damian Szczepanik
The most important issue raised with representatives of the Umianowice Volunteer Fire Department was the spring burning of meadows and pastures in the Nida delta area and its devastating impact on flora and fauna. The need to make the local community aware through direct meetings or the media was emphasized.
The need to increase patrols in the delta area where shorebirds nest was agreed with a representative of the hunting club. The topic of the increase in the number of alien and invasive predator species, such as the common raccoon dog, was discussed, which could affect the population of animals protected under the project.
During the patrol, Life employees pointed out sections of the watercourse that are gradually becoming shallow and overgrown.
In the areas adjacent to the river and lower down, the presence of aquatic vegetation was found, e.g., marsh-marigold, typha. The presence of the following representatives of fauna was noted: crane, greylag goose, lapwing, eurasian skylark, raven, common buzzard, mute swan, gray heron.
