Breeds of conserved species in our homestead

In our educational farm you can see various representatives of livestock species such as goats sheep cattle and horse These are not however animals by chance, as they belong to various conservation breeds.
What are conservation breeds? In the simplest way to explain, these are breeds of animals with very few representatives, which are native to a particular region. Such breeds include our goats – Piotruś and Bartuś – which represent the Sandomierz goat breed, the cow Jutrzenka is a purebred white-horned cattle, while the sheep represent breeds such as the black-tailed, heather and swine. The last beautiful animal of our homestead is the mare Tysa which is a Polish pony. Each of these animals is characterized by different traits related to external appearance and character. The common denominator of these breeds, however, is unheard of resistance to various adverse environmental conditions, disease resistance, and good forage utilization.
Maintaining the breeding of such animals is extremely important in terms of biodiversity. They are adapted to the conditions of a particular region, in our case they are animals from the territory of today’s Poland and it is to such an environment that they are best adapted
