International nature workshops.

On August 16 and 17, 2021, international nature workshops were held at the headquarters in Krzyżanowice Średnie. We hosted a group of foreign volunteers on behalf of the CampoSfera Creative Space and Development Foundation . They came to Poland for 6 weeks as part of the European Solidarity Corps program financed by the European Union. They represented countries such as: Colombia, Vietnam, France, Italy, Austria and Spain, and the theme of their stay was environmental protection and promoting ecology.

On the first day of the workshop, in the theoretical and informative part, to introduce young people to the subject of the LIFE4DELTA project, a film was screened. ” In the Nida Delta “. Then, during the multimedia presentation, the most important goals and assumptions of the project were discussed, as well as the history of the area and the correctness of the activities undertaken. For the practical part, a group of volunteers was taken to the Forest Nursery in Michałów, where they started nursing work on the established quarters. During the joint removal of weeds, they were familiarized with the importance and advisability of growing seedlings of riparian species.

On the second day, some of the newcomers were offered a screening of the second film promoting the project “Renaturation of the inland delta of the Nida River”. ” Adventure in the Nida Delta “. The film was very well received and lively interest, many questions and topics for discussion appeared. For those willing, a huge attraction was the observation and feeding of the pond turtle. On that day, the volunteers helped at the seed plantation at the headquarters in Krzyżanowice Średni. After explaining how to properly perform agrotechnical procedures with the use of specific tools, they started working on removing unwanted plants. The joint effort resulted in a well-kept plantation of xerothermic species. Volunteers were interested in the method of collecting and storing seeds and the importance of plantations in the preservation of rare and protected species of Ponidzie flora.
